B&O employee is William Gray
William Gray began his career for the B&O in
1914 as an office cleaner in the B&O’s Central Office Building. He became
supervisor of a cleaning crew in 1918 and eventually, in recognition of his
abilities, helped ensure furniture was clean and taken care of in 1925 by the
B&O’s Superintendent of Buildings. He was a steward in the John Wesley
Methodist Church in Baltimore and member of the Elks and Odd Fellows. He
retired in 1944 with over 30 years of service.
