Pullman Cars

Many of the B&O passenger trains included Pullman Cars on elite routes such as the Capitol Limited and the Shenandoah. However, the workers on the Pullman cars were employees of the Pullman Company and not the B&O Railroad and therefore were subject to the rules and regulations set by Pullman. They faced discrimination regularly in many forms. One of the most common was being called “George”, a reference to Pullman’s founder George Pullman.
